Contract Tauri/Electron Software Engineer
Location: Hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days remote)
Contract Length: 4 weeks

The organisation is an independent creative studio founded over 10 years ago, focused on delivering innovative experiences that integrate real-time 3D technologies across client operations. Their work bridges design, engineering, and marketing teams to help businesses maximise the value of 3D content. 

The Role

Owing to the commencement of a new project, they're looking for a contract Tauri/Electron Engineer with a strong foundation in front-end web technologies to develop a custom desktop experience. This application will support the visual communication of infrastructure plans across a geographic region, presented in a dual-screen format.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a desktop application using Tauri.
• Integrate an existing web-based platform into the desktop application.
• Embed geographic data layers (web maps, scenes) within the application.
• Apply software design principles to ensure separation of concerns and ease of maintenance.
• Produce supporting technical documentation for the application.
• Adjust the integrated website as needed to achieve the desired user experience.
• Travel to a presentation site in Saudi Arabia to assist with deployment and demonstration.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• Experience developing desktop applications with Tauri (or similar frameworks such as Electron or other Node.js wrappers).
• Familiarity with integrating geospatial data or web maps into applications.
• An understanding of application architecture patterns that support modular and maintainable builds.

Desirable

Experience working with touchscreen interfaces and gesture-based controls.
